Drive along the south Rim road

One of the simplest things to do in Black Canyon of the Gunnison is the seven-mile drive, which has twelve overlooks to test your fear of heights.

Many of the overlooks need walking a little trail but nothing hard.

If you are limited on time, be sure to check out Painted Wall, Pulpit rock, and sunset view.

Enjoy the sunset from sunset view.

It is simple to figure out where to watch the sunset from with a name like this. We came out here both nights we were in the park to enjoy the sun going down.

It is probably the top spot for images. Believe me. We went to every single overlook in the park.

Fish and SUP boards.

The Gunnison River inside of the Black Canyon is designated as Gold Medal waters.

Grab a license for fishing and try your hands from East Portal.

Blue Mesa Reservoir nearby also offers the best lake trout fishing experience in addition to boat rental with SUP boards.

Boat Down the River

Curecanti National Recreation Center, Black Canyon sisters national park place, provides ranger-led boat tours into the Canyon every day and Tuesday through the hot months.

This 1.5-hour trip will permit you to experience the magic of the inner canyon while learning about the area’s wildlife, geology, history, and water.

Reservations are needed, and it is powerfully encouraged to make them several weeks in advance.
