Are you looking for a comfortable and attractive design in one single PFD? Yes, and that’d be the Onyx Curve life jacket. Unlike the previous model, the Onyx Curve MOVEVENT comes with further cushioning to give warmth and comfort to the body.

If you’re wondering if the life vest gives free movement, letting you participate in most paddling sports… then my answer is simple… Yes. And what is even better is that it has a mesh back design so it can cool faster and provides good airflow.

It provides beautiful comfort and enables you to move your hands and the neck without limitations. This is probably one of the most comfortable life vests on the market due to great Amazon reviews.

Truth to be told, if you’re only looking for super comfort, you’ll probably not find a better choice than this. Although, if you’re planning to keep gears in hand-reach when participating in water sports, this is not the option for you because extra pockets are unavailable.

Comfort

Though it is made out of what looks to be standard material for several life vests, the Onyx Curve MOVEVENT has a soft feel that is more comfortable against the skin than we expected it to be. The top of the front is a little tapered to better fit and perfect human shape, which we appreciate.

It also has space for your arms to paddle or cast a fishing line. The straps are simple to adjust, and the shoulder straps have handy loops on the front to keep those tails at least a little more under wraps.

All the straps are super soft, which helps them stay comfortable against bare skin. The back is a little bigger than a half-back version, but the bottom part is mesh. This helps in breathability but keeps the back above only a low seat.

Because the back comes down reasonably low, though it is not entirely back, it features much like a full one in practice and is reasonably smooth to learn back on. Neoprene shoulders give additional comfort to the fit of this vest.

The Onyx Curve MOVEVENT runs a bit large, so if you are on the small side of the measurement range, you might want to size down. This is compounded by the odd triangular form that flares out at the bottom, where it’d be thinner to accommodate the waist.

Our women testers noticed much more acutely than our male testers included bulk at the bottom can make it slightly cumbersome for small folks, whereas sizing down might help alleviate this problem.

And while the mesh lower back portion helps with breathability, the vertical mesh vents in the font size close when you secure the vest around you, so you do not count on those keeping you cool. The Onyx Curve MOVEVENT can be pretty warm on a hot day, necessitating a dunk in the water.

Durability

Made of super-soft lightweight unspecified covered by a 200 d-nylon shell, the Onyx Curve MOVEVENT is of average construction. We had no significant problems with the durability vest during our testing via the yellow fabric does look to get dirty reasonably simply.

This is one of the few options we reviewed that is not made of ripstop material. While we had no problems with the hardware during our testing, other online users complained of various zippers and broken buckles. The soft straps are also prone to fraying after a snag, as some of its competitors.

The Onyx vests we tested, including his one, are also the only ones that do not with a warranty guarding against manufacturing defects. Overall, we are not appealed to or impressed by the durability of the Onyx Curve MOVEVENT.

Versatility

The Onyx Curve MOVEVENT is a fine paddling vest with plenty of space for movement and a design that works with you as you propel yourself via the water. The half-back design is meant for a low seat back, although we found that this life vest primarily rests on the seatback of our boats.

As a reasonably comfortable vest that is super soft and pretty out of the way, we also think this life vest is a decent general use option if you are not a super paddler. Further, it weighs just 17oz, making it one of the lighter full vests we tested.

The Onyx Curve MOVEVENT is completely clip-less, pocket-less, and loop-less, so if on-person storage is the main priority, this is unlikely to be your new favorite life vest.

And while we do not mind the feel of the life vest, it is far from flattering if that matters to you, but for a reasonably simple life vest on a budget, this vest works pretty well for paddling or about any other aquatic adventure you might need it for.

Value

This Onyx Curve MOVEVENT is one of the least expensive. It is a solid performance product for less than half the cost of several of its competitors. And yet, it is a pretty valuable product.

Though it mightn’t be as specific as some vests we tested, it has plenty to provide for mobility and comfort, making it a better option for budget-conscious buyers.

What I like

• It suits the body perfectly. If we’ve to describe this life jacket with a one-world, that’d be comfortable.
• Incredibly light, after wearing it for some time, you will forget that you’re with a SUP vest.
• Smooth movements are a definite element of the overall assessment of this product.

What I don’t like

• The life vest misses pockets, and d-rings attachments are not also available.
